Endeavour's Crew Awake to Begin Flight Day 12

Thu, 26 May 2011 19:08:12 -0500

The crews of space shuttle Endeavour and Expedition 28 woke at 7:58 p.m. EDT to a modified version of the song “Fun, Fun, Fun” with shuttle-themed lyrics by astronaut band Max Q, played for all six STS-134 crew members. Mission Specialist Drew Feustel and Pilot Greg Johnson both play in the band.

Mike Fincke and Greg Chamitoff, both mission specialists, are set to begin the mission’s fourth and final spacewalk at 12:46 a.m. It is scheduled to last approximately six and a half hours. The focus of today's spacewalk is to stow the shuttle’s 50-foot boom on the right-side truss on a permanent stowage fixture, retrieve the grapple from the station's left-side truss and use it as a replacement for the grapple currently on the boom.

If the spacewalk begins on time, the 1,000th hour spent spacewalking for assembly and maintenance of the International Space Station will be reached at 5:33 a.m.
